I really like it, even though my coworkers make fun of me for spending $35 on a pen holder. I wish the pen fit perfectly in his hands, from the front you can't tell. Also wish the knight was sturdier on the base.It's real metal and feels well constructed overall though-This is a very nice pen holder. It is made out of resin and comes in two parts the knight and the base. The knight fits snugly into the base. If you do not want the statue to come apart you can put glue in to the foot holes for permanent hold(it is also suggested by the seller).-The statute has a bit of weight to it with good detail. The base is significantly heavier and feels like it’s solid( not hollow).-The paint is well done and doesn’t seem like it will chip,rub off or fade anytime soon. I do want to mention that the blue is much lighter in person than on the website however depending on your camera and the lighting the blue looks almost identical to the website( u can see in photos).-The hands of the statue will fit a thin pen into the gaps but a thick one will rest above it(still looks good).-The statue comes packaged in shaped styrofoam that fits very snug into the box. The box does have the image of the statue on it however if you’re gonna be giving it as a gift, keep in mind it has stickers on it but they remove easily (the statue box was shipped as is and not wrapped or in another box for protection).It did have two small imperfections on the one I received but it did not take away from the over all look. There was some gold pain bleeding on the side of the base and on the left leg of the knight there were 2 little bumps from when the statue was formed.*Personally I find this to be a great gift for that little ego inside us all. He loves history and France and the notion of French chivalry, etc. He’s also a writer, old school enough to actually have a journal to write his stories in. So this was perfect, and I had to get it for him, like a little call to arms, a prompt to write.He loved it and named it Brisklavret after a French folk story of sorts. However, one night I pulled a cord from behind him (not with any great force or speed) and he fell off of the shelf, just above waist high, onto carpet. His arm fell off under the buckler and his hand broke in two places! Luckily I’d ordered the blue version and the paint didn’t chip off terribly, and I was able to superglue the arm and hand and fingers on (at least the fingers were in one piece). There’s a small chip on a finger, but I’m going to try some chalk pastels sort of watercolored on in multiple layers and then spot sealed. It should blend pretty well and you’d never know he was broken. I do however feel the need to turn the pen so the light side is resting on that hand any time I see it the other way around. We call it his war wound.I just feel that... for all his heft (and the base is considerably hefty), I wish he didn’t have glass heels, as it were. I’d be more likely to buy other items from the seller if it was sturdier, because we don’t tend to buy stuff just for the fun of it to toss in two years when we do some redecorating. We want stuff we’re going to keep. Brisklavret may not have the staying power for that, and that’s regrettable.Works the way it's supposed to. Packaged nicely so no damage from traveling. Holds a variety of pens as you can see from the image, but comes with a nice silver pen.So fun! Sturdy holds my pen nicely without tipping over. It's loose at the foot but it does say you can glue. Didn't find it necessary for my useI gave this to my husband, and we totally loved it. It's sturdy and the color is great.Mightier than the sword (but you knew that already).Only down side - the hands are for a small pen, not a fat one like a Mont Blanc. If the hand fit a large pen -five stars every week of the day ending in "y."Got this for my son who loves fountain pens.
