My kids can't reach the top, they are only 8 & 6 years old but they do have be to use a stool. I love this though. It has been so good to help my boys organize their week of clothes. They used to whine when I'd have them out their clothes away, but now they didn't even realize they are doing it. This is so easy. Just be sure to tell your kids not to hang on it because it isn't meant for that kind of weight. It is sturdy, but not meant to hang on and definitely isn't meant to be a ladder!
