Are these hangers pretty? Maybe - if you like the "industrial look". Are they strong? I doubt you find anything stronger than these! About the best hangers you can possible own!I have mine in a garage. It's pretty clean and I do keep the temperature above freezing, but I have a few work coats that tend to be dirty and downright nasty. Keeping them just outside the house makes sense, and these guys do that work very well! You receive to two, almost 3 1/4" diameter plates - four holes in each - that you mount to the wall. As I did not want any strength issues, I have mine mounted into the 2X4 studs behind the drywall. As I can't get all four of the holes lined up, I have just used the top and bottom holes, drilling straight into the stud. (I would suggest pre-drilling the holes as well, so not to shatter the 2X4) My drywall is 1/2", which means I get about 1" into the stud. Not bad. You could replace those screws (1.5") with two inch ones, for a bit more support...After the plate is mounted in place, you simple screw in the 10" pipe. Simple. Make sure the end cap is in place, so any hangers will not slide off. Now you place as many jackets with hangers onto the pipe. Rock solid! Really nice! There is not much more to say! If you want to, they have supplied you with a little more hardware so you could mount a board on top of two of these pipes, so you can make a shelf. The extras are simply pipe clamps that would go around the bottom on the pipe and then screw into the bottom of a wooden board, to keep the board in place.Bottom Line - A really solid coat hanger. It looks very "industrial", because it is! Black iron pipe! Doesn't get more industrial than that! Easy to install. A real winner!
