Only problem I had was the adjustment switch for how long it stays on. It totally stripped out while adjusting it.Easy deasy..rotate length of time dial put in a bulb and screw it in an outlet..SHAZAM!I have three of these. The first two have been working for 3+ years. I bought a third and they all work great. The motion sensor is great and they are easy to set up.I had purchased this motion sensor light socket along with another one to compare. I like that you can adjust the time from just a few seconds to 5 minutes for it to turn off after no motion has been detected. You can also adjust the light sensitivity at which it will light up. This item reacts quickly once you enter the room, but it waits until you enter the room. The other one I bought would light up at any sign of movement or light change (passing car) and would constantly turn on and didn't turn off until 5 minutes later. Because of this, it would be on a good deal of time when it wasn't needed. It would easily turn on from the reflection of tv light in the room next door. It was annoying. With this one, it will turn on once I am 2 steps in. I can open the door to check in and not have lights turn on until I decide to actually enter the room. While working in my office, which is where I have them, it will turn off if I am continuously working at my desk/PC where not much motion is evident, but a quick wave and they turn right back on. For times when I will be working for more than 15 minutes I just turn on desk lamp and don't have to worry if motion lights turn off. If I need the extra lighting, again,a quick wave, and they are back on again. I have another in our bathroom, which is windowless and you have to turn the light on every time you enter. I have a large family who for some reason seems to be unable to flick the light switch off when they are done and now within 2-3 minutes after they step out the light turns off. So far it has been a week and they really work great! I highly recommend them.We had become accustomed to our garage opener coming on when we entered the garage. It was nice to not worry about carrying things and struggling for the light switch. We got a new opener, and it was not on the new one. After several episodes of waving our hands at the light (with no effect), we realized we wanted a motion-detection light. It requires a little tweaking on how much it takes to turn it on and how dark it needs to be, but it works like a charm. We put an LED that is an "equivalent of a "regular 100W bulb" and it does fine.We have had it for 17 months and are happy. The only weird thing is at times it will be on when I go out to the garage. Why? I think it has to do with how it works. It senses heat movement. Our furnace is in the garage and I think sometimes when it fires it is enough to turn it on. No big deal when you understand what is going on. Our old door opener light did the same thing - I just did not know why. Since I am talking about heat, it works better when it is cooler when it can see your body heat quicker. In the summer it has a little more problem noticing your body heat if the temperature is over 90 or more. Hand waving does work in that instance. These sensors are great. We have been using three of them in our home: one in the pantry, one in the laundry area, and another in the basement. These are all areas where we are likely to be carrying something, and might not have a hand free to flip the light switch. They have always been effective and worthwhile.Having said this, one of our sensors stopped working yesterday after almost a year of faithful service. While troubleshooting, I realized that the unit rattled. In the image you can see that an exploded power transistor was the cause of the failure; I found the missing flake of chip up inside the light bulb receptacle.I verified that the supplied circuit coltage was normal (120V) and well within the rated range of the device. I can only speculate that the ultimate cause of failure was due to a manufacturing defect in the transistor.Nevertheless, I plan to replace it with an identical unit, because we were happy with the performance and price.Like: improved illumination -- the twin-bulb design is a great idea; dislike -- effective radius of motion detection is not quite as advertised, which means that we need to step out the garage door and down a few steps in the dark many times before it lights up. I was hoping for the light to go on as soon as we opened the door (which is less than 12 feet from the fixture), and sometimes it does -- but sometimes it doesn't. I have already maxed out the adjustments for the brightness and the motion-sensor, so I guess our installation must be at the very edge of its capabilities. The light in my laundry room had one of those chains that you pull to turn it on and off. Well, apparently I am stronger than I thought because I kept pulling the chain out of it's socket. I did not want to spend the money to have an electrician install a light switch so I got one of these. It actually works better than I thought. My hands are usually full when entering and exiting the laundry room so now I don't have to balance the laundry basked on my hip to turn off the light. Only minor complaint is that it turns off a little faster than I might like. When I'm cleaning in the space it will sometimes turn off and I have to stand up and waive my hands around to get the light to turn back on. But that is a minor issue. It works so well that I got a second one for another room in my basement. My only problem is that I now have to find something other than the light pully chain to take my aggressions out on. :-) Thank you!The light was exactly what I needed. However the sensor time periods did not change what ever way you adjusted it, and it quit working after about 5 months. I had it is a garage which was unheated, but I am very disappointed in it. I would not recommend you purchase it.It’s not cheap for nothingBarely works until you flail around like a car dealership inflatable then maybe it will turn on.Facil de ajustar el tiempo de encendido y apagado e iluminacion muy buena compra que hiceWorked good for small bulbs. I put 100w bulbs in it and it burned out in one day. This thing just doesn't work. It's junk and the seller has not responded on how to return their defective product.
